Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees

Catholic Boards of Trustees include four Bishop’s Appointees as well as the five elected parent representatives that State schools have. Our board has a total of eleven members including the staff representative and the principal or CEO.

I’d like to introduce you to our elected parent representatives.  Peter Deering (Chairperson),  Matt Adsett, Janine Bollee and Maria Mooney bring three years’ experience to the board as they start their second term of office.

Peter has been involved in Secondary Education for many years with the last fifteen years spent in a variety of leadership positions including Deputy and Head Teacher. Whilst having developed over many years a very solid depth of knowledge in the strategic organisation and running of schools, his main focus  will always be the on the happiness, welfare, academic and social progress of our pupils.  Importantly also is the ability to put things in perspective have fun with our kids as a school community and watch them develop into terrific young people who have been given the opportunity to fulfill their potential in whatever area they choose.

Matt and Paulette Adsett have two boys, Luca and Rico.  Matt is stongly supportive of sport at STM where ‘winning is not everything yet having the will to win and trying your very best is’, and by providing this foundation he believes we give our STM students every opportunity to shine, grow and develop both on and off the field. Our little school with big hearted children punches above our weight and our children strive to achieve, inspiring all. Through coaching STM students in miniball, basketball, cricket and touch rugby as well as volunteering for school camp Matt has had the opportunity to experience the strong “Head, Heart and Hands’ values of STM school.

Having been in senior management positions for the last 25 years Matt has skills which support our board’s commitment to life-long learning. As a life learner himself, Matt is committed to excellence and continuous improvement. He is passionate about encouraging our children ‘to be the best they can be’ in a holistic approach to their development as young people.  By providing a healthy and safe environment we are ensuring our students educational needs are identified, planned for and met. “We are accountable for student progress and achievement to our parents and our community.”

Like all mums, the vast majority of Janine’s “s pare time” is spent ferrying her boys to and from their sporting events, coaching or managing their sporting teams or interests and finding time for her own sporting passions of running, triathlon, swimming, water skiing, wakeboarding and snowboarding. Janine Bollee’s eldest son has moved on to Aquinas College and she has twin boys, Jake and Aidan, who are in the middle school at STM. Janine is a swim instructor at Baywave and she teaches mainly pre-school and infant classes about keeping safe in and around water. Janine’s husband, Grant, is a builder and Janine’s role in their company is to do office administration and health and safety. Janine is the power behind the STM Weetbix triathlon every year. Our school is known for fielding the biggest school team in the area and the numbers are growing each year due to Janine’s commitment to inspiring and coaching each child to do their best. Janine is proud of the school’s progress over the last three years and is looking forward to continuing the development of our strategic goals for the school community as a while.

Picture4Hi, I’m Maria Mooney. Tristan and I have three children, Alex & Sarah at Aquinas College and Ben at STM. I was educated in Catholic Schools (St Josephs, Fairfield and Sacred Heart in Hamilton) and want my children to receive a Catholic education and to have the same opportunities that I had.   I treasure the school values at St Thomas More and love the sense of community the school has.  I am tertiary qualified with a background in Human Resources.  I currently work part-time as the Administration Manager for my brother’s two physiotherapy clinics.  The rest of my time is spent juggling (not literally) my three children and husband (taxi driver, chef, social worker, personal assistant x 4, nurse…I am sure all you mothers will get it!)

Along with being a current parent rep on the STM BOT, I have been involved at St Thomas More over the past 8 years through managing school sports teams, student banking and helping out whenever I can with class trips and PTFA initiatives.
